Weather in Cyprus
|
Cyprus enjoys the best Mediterranean climate with around 340 days of ample sunshine per year. As typical of Mediterranean climate, Cyprus has hot, dry summers and cool winters. The sunny days and fine temperatures almost every day on the Island makes it an ideal holiday destination all year round. Extremes of temperatures are practically unknown, with Cyprus having something to offer every month of the year, whether it's swimming (as late as November) or enjoying cultural sites and festivals (all year long). Though seasonal fluctuations are minimal, however, they keep on varying. Let us give you a brief overview of what to expect:
The sizzling Summer of Cyprus: Mid-May to Mid-October
Gear up for high temperatures, clear skies and cooling sea breeze as you put on your swim suit or sun tan lotion at the beaches. A time for water sports galore, from sailing to scuba diving, it is the hottest time of the year and we suggest that you carry along sun protection be it sunscreen, umbrellas, shades or broad-brimmed hats.
Fall in Cyprus is Warm and Sunny: End October to November
Cooler evenings, changing hues of nature and bright sunlight characterizes the fall months in Cyprus. The warm waters still make for a pleasant swim by the beaches, while inland excursions to villages and vineyards for wine tastings can be very enjoyable. You can also celebrate the annual Kypria festival with the local people.
Mild Winter of Cyprus: December and January
The winters are marked with frequent showers and an average of 6 hours of daylight. The winter chill does not affect the bustling Island life as it is the harbinger of many cultural fiestas.
Delightful Spring of Cyprus: January to May
Pleasant daytime temperatures and the first blooming orchids welcome spring time in Cyprus. The fresh green meadows, carpets of red anemones and other wildflowers roll out to welcome the visitors.
