Summer
January to March are the summer months with February as the hottest month with maximum temperature touching 28°Celsius and the minimum falling to 15°C.

Winter
June to August is the winter months, when the temperatures range between 14°C and 22°C.

Rainfall
Easter Island, also known as "Rapa Nui Island", receives steady rainfall throughout the year, although showers are only sporadic and last a short time. Heaviest rainfall occurs in the month of May.


September is the driest month. The weather here is windy most of the time with southeast trade winds dominating the weather conditions from October to April. The island is prone to become the playground of environmental hazards like tsunami (tidal waves) and drought.
