Sanibel Island Ferry

"Highway to Heaven" and "Path to Paradise" are some common names that are used for referring to the Sanibel Causeway. That means the island is equated with Paradise and Heaven. The claim is not baseless. The beaches of the island are different from those you may have seen at other places. The beaches are covered with different types of shell that renders the beaches with heavenly look. Even adults can’t resist the temptation of picking these beautiful beaches.



How to get in and get around?

Ferry service


Besides the causeway, people can also come to the island by a 30 minute ferry service from the mainland. There are four ships to carry passengers and cars to and from the island. The ferry rides runs at 15 minutes interval from morning (7:30 AM) to evening (5:30 PM). Some private boats and cruises could also be rented to reach here as well as exploring the beautiful island.


Car


People can carry their cars aboard the ferry ships to the Sanibel Island. The island has large networks of roads and streets. Periwinkle Way is the main round here. Side streets and roads connect to the Way. Speed limit on most roads here is 35 MPH or less so make sure you abide by the law. Vehicles could also be rented.


Bicycle


Sanibel Island has 22 miles of cycling paths. If you know cycling and are looking for some adventures, you can rent a bicycle and explore the interiors of the island.
