Colombo

The attractive islands on the western coasts are Negombo, Mount Lavinia, Beruwela, Bentota, Ambalangoda, Hikkaduwa, Galle and Weligama. The prominent ones in the eastern parts are Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Kalkudah, Nilaveli, and Arugam Bay. Jaffna lies on the northern part of the island.
Nature Spots of the Sri Lanka
The island is dotted with nature spots. There are nature parks and other natural reserves around the island. One can visit the Yala or Ruhuna National Park, Wilpattu National Park, Gal Oya National Park, Maduru Oya National Park, Uda Walawe National Park, Wasgamuwa National Park, Horton Plains National Park, and Bundala National Park.
The island is a favorite for the ornithologists for its rich reserve of birds in the sanctuaries at Kumana, Wirawila, Bundala, and Kalametiya. The numerous Lagoons makes it more attractive. These Lagoons are concentrated on the extreme southeastern coast of the island.
There are three extremely Botanical Gardens in Sri Lanka. These are Peradeniya at 488 m high, Hakgala at 1,680 m, and Henarathgoda in the low country.
