Weather in Borneo

One of the deciding factors of any tour itinerary is the weather of the place. It plays a very important role in fixing up the schedules. Whether it is raining or hot, the climate is very important. Weather in Borneo also plays an important role in deciding the tour itinerary.

Borneo enjoys an absolute tropical climate. The usual temperature in these regions are always on the higher side. The island receives rainfall throughout the year. As a matter of fact the annual rainfall received reaches around 4000 mm in many parts of the country. The climate does not varies much according to the regions. It remains all the same throughout the island. But the climate in the South China Sea varies and subsequently it affects the regions it covers. The monsoon winds blowing over the sea effects the climate.

Being a tropical climate region, Borneo does not enjoy the usual four seasons in a year. Rather the Rainy season covers most of the month and the other months enjoys a dry spell with patches of rain. The relative humidity of the island invariably remains above 70% throughout the year. There is not much difference in the mean temperature even. The temperature varies between 20-36 degrees Celsius.

The monsoon in Borneo continues from November to March and April and August are the dry and warm periods of the year. September to March are the coolest months of the island. The climate in the island is mainly affected by the winds blowing from the sea to land. These winds causes daily thunderstorms and heavy spells of rains though they do not last for a long time.

Clothing
Keeping the climate in mind the travelers are advised to carry light clothes. Women should try to dress up modestly keeping the local customs in mind.
