Heron Island

This exotic coral cay lies right in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef. A must visit for anyone planning ‘sightseeing in Australia’ tours. The region is known for its coral bounty and rich marine life. In fact if you happen to visit Brisbane, the Heron Island is just about 539 kilometres north of the city. The island gets its name from the large population of herons who live on the island. Besides herons you’ll see flocks of terns and mutton birds that inhabit the island. The island happens to be a Marine national Park, and is also listed as a World Heritage Site.

Book a beach resort and enjoy the quit broken by bird cries. The exotic island is the epitome of natural beauty. The perfect place to rejuvenate and enjoy marine life - Go deep sea fishing with the locals, hike along coastal tracks or enjoy bird watching!

This is a great place for diving. You could go snorkelling or scuba diving as well! There are more than 20 diving sites on the Island. Enjoy nature walks inside the dense Pisonia forests or explore exotic fauna such as the loggerhead turtles that are a common sight here.
