Weather in Singapore
The geographical location of Singapore ensures that it enjoys an equatorial climate all through the year. It is located just Lat 1.5 deg N of equator and Long 104 deg E. The maritime exposure and the geographical location characterizes the climate of Singapore with by uniform temperature and pressure, high humidity and abundant rainfall.
The Singaporean climate can be sub-divided basically into two seasons. The Northeast Monsoon and the Southwest Monsoon season. These seasons are further separated by two short spells of inter-monsoon periods.
SEASONS:
North-East Monsoon Season
Time period- December to early March
The north east blows at around 20 km/h mark making the sky cloudy with spells of frequent afternoon showers. The climate becomes relatively drier in February and early March.
Pre South-West Monsoon
Time period - late March to May
This short stint is categorized by variable winds with earlu evening showers.
South-West Monsoon Season
Time period - June to September
The Southeast/Southwest Wind blows hard at this period of time. The climate is characterized with late morning and early afternoon showers. Hazy periods are common among these months.
Pre North-East Monsoon
Time period - October to November
The short stint often experiences light and variable winds. Sea breeze in the afternoon makes the climate cooler.
TEMPERATURE
The temperature generally hobbles around the 23 to 26 deg C with Maximum reaching 34 deg C. The temperature usually falls down to 19.4 deg C in winter and reaches a maximum of 35.8 deg C in summers.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY
The usual relative humidity remains around 85%. During heavy rainfall it reaches to 100%.
RAINFALL
Singapore receives more rainfall in the months of December and April. The drier spells occur in February and July.
