If somewhere on earth there is paradise, then it has to be the Ko Phi Phi islands. Located in Thailand these islands are among the larger ones of Phuket and the mainland of Thailand. These are under the governance of Krabi province and are just on a 45 minutes journey from Phuket. This is the ultimate tropical escape of Thailand with beautiful beaches and lovely surroundings.

Ko Phi Phi ( pronounced as Ko Pee Pee) is divided mainly into two bigger islands. Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Lee. The other parts of the islands constitutes of Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island which are nothing more than huge chunks of limestone rocks curved out of the sea.

Ko Phi Phi Don is the larger of the two with few inhabitants and many beach fronts. Ko Phi Phi Lee is visited by tourists for its beaches only. The two islands are separated by a short boat ride. In fact waterways is the most interesting way to travel among these islands.

The geographical location of Ko Phi Phi is at 8°02'30?N, 98°48'39?E. the topography is content is mostly of palm trees, coconut plantation and sand. These islands are the treasure of a beautiful and varied sea world. A truly colorful world.

The initial population of the island constituted mostly of Muslim fishermen. It was during 1940's. Later the island became a coconut plantation. Still 80% of the total p[population are Thai Muslims.

Ko Phi Phi Lee became famous after it formed the backdrop of the Leonardo de Caprio's 'The Beach'. This island is the home to the famous 'Viking Cave' . it is basically a tourist destination with very little inhabitants.
