Martha's Vineyard Ferry

On your trip to Martha's Vineyard, do not forget to connect to one of the many passenger ferry services that serve the Island from the mainland, that is if you are not traveling by air. There are five major ports of call on Massachusetts from where you can board a ferry bound for the island. These ports are namely: Woods Hole, Falmouth, Hyannis, New Bedford, and Nantucket (another Island). Seasonal ferry service operates from Quonset Rhode Island as well.

While you can avail year round ferry service to Martha's island from the ports of Hyannis, New Bedford and Woods Hole it would be better for you to opt for traveling from Woods Hole, if you are traveling with car as it is the only port that can carry both passengers and cars.

As for the ferries from Falmouth, they are strictly passenger ferries and operate during the spring, summer, and fall, while the Nantucket Passenger ferries run only during the summer months.

The frequency of the ferry service is quite impressive with several trips a day. Still, more ferries are added to the route during the busy summer months to service the increased demand.
