Oahu
Oahu popularly known as the "Gathering Place" is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands supporting the highest population in the State of Hawaii. The total land area of Oahu is 596.66 mile² (1,545.34 km²), inclusive of the area of small close-in offshore islands such as Ford Island and the islands in Kaneohe Bay and off the eastern coast.
Oahu is a Volcanic Island, which has resulted as a twin effect of two separate shield volcanoes- Waianae and Koolau, with a broad "valley" or saddle in between, which is the central Oahu Plain. The Island of Oahu extends to a maximum length of 71 km (44 mi) long and is 48 km (30 mi) in width with 366 km (227 mi) of enchanting shoreline dotted with magnificent beaches.
Mt. Kaala in the Waianae Range is the highest point in the Island rising to a staggering height of 1,225 m (4,019 ft) above sea level
