Samoa Cruises
Samoa consists of a group of islands that together make up an independent state, which was given an official recognition by the UN in 1976. Nestled in the lap of warm jewel colored waters of the Pacific Ocean, Samoa was popularly known as the Navigators' Islands up until the 20th century, in acknowledgement of the Samoans' fine seafaring skills. From 1900 to 1914, the Samoa islands were called German Samoa and then Western Samoa from the years 1914 to 1997. The strategic location of the island made it an important port of call with many ships calling at its port of Apia. The trend continues even today with several large Samoa Cruises coming to its Apia Harbor.
There are around six Samoa cruises during a year. These cruises offer excellent opportunity to the sea lovers to take a day tour around Upolu Island or enjoy a day in Apia Town with a half day sightseeing tour of the majestic emerald streaked mountains surrounding Apia including a stop at its most famous landmark - Robert Louis Stevenson's house and museum.
Though there no day or overnight small ship cruises around the islands that will enable you to the scenic beauty of the island under a starlit sky, you can definitely enjoy a Sunset Cruise operated by Moanalei Adventures on the South Coast of Upolu and admire the island with the orange hues of setting sun as the backdrop.
